The freezing winter weather (apparently it was the coldest Christmas in the UK since records began) has led me to refugee in trousers and so I decided to look ahead to the upcoming trouser trends.
1. Wide-leg trousers
Apparently the Seventies are coming back next season, including one of the biggest ‘70s trends – the wide leg trousers.
Celebrities, including Olivia Palermo, have already paved the way with this trend, and it is easy to see why – they are super comfortable, and a flattering shape too, as they skim your thighs and show off your waist.
And if you pair them with some heels, they also extend your legs, making you look model height.
Olivia Palermo rocks a sophisticated, beige version of the trend at the presentation of Mango’s new collection in Madrid, Spain
Nicole Ritchie channels the ‘70s look at Holt Renfrew in Calgary, Canada to promote the A/W ‘10 collections of her lines, Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960
Blake Lively in Paris, in character as Serena van der Woodsen, in some chic, pink Suno high waisted trousers
Jump on the trend earlier and invest in a pair of these killer trousers, such as these chic black Yves Saint Laurent trousers – a wardrobe staple!

2. Coloured trousers
Brights are a big trend this Spring Summer 2010 so lead the way with some bright, coloured trousers.
Rihanna rocks a bright outfit of orange peg leg trousers and a purple top, to radio interviews in London
Blake Lively, in character as Serena van der Woodsen, in Paris in some bright blue Tibi cropped trousers
Whitney Port wows the crowd at HauteLook’s fashion week kick-off party in New York, in some harem seafoam Adam trousers
Treat yourself to some coloured trousers, to be ahead of the curve, like these Jenni Kayne orange trousers.

This spring, roll up the bottoms of the trousers and then add some neutral accessories and top, for a killer look.
But if this look isn’t for you, then why not just add some bright accessories to a neutral outfit instead.
