As you probably know by now, bright, neon colours are a big trend this season. However if you are not keen, do not fear. The other big trend this season is soft, neutral tones; a nice, elegant contrast to the loud colours and prints.
Need some help shopping the trend? Don’t worry, I have some of my favourite neutral pieces below – invest in a couple of these strong pieces and your summer wardrobe will be complete.
By Malene Birger rose-coloured Doina shorts, approx. £183 (via shopbop.com)
By Malene Birger is the Queen of neutrals this season, with her elegant collection.
These particular shorts are perfect for the summer weather. This summer I would dress them down with a simple white tee and wedges.
By Malene Birger Emine tribal shell necklace, £84 (via my-wardrobe.com)
This tribal-inspired necklace is the perfect addition to a neutral outfit this summer – killing two trends with one accessory!
By Malene Birger Geniva draped jersey top, £179 (via my-wardrobe.com)
This gorgeous draped blouse, which is a flattering shape once on, is perfect for taking the neutral trend into the office.
Buy now and team with a black pencil skirt whilst still battling the Spring breeze, then team with white skinny trousers and nude heels once the summer heat finally arrives.
Equipment signature washed-silk shirt, £210 (via net-a-porter)
No wardrobe is complete nowadays without an Equipment shirt and luckily it comes in a neutral-tone too.
The great thing about this shirt is that you can dress it up for a day in the office or pull it on with some jeans for a fashionable weekend look too.
Chole cropped crepe straight-leg trousers, £450 (via net-a-porter)
I have fallen in love - these peach-tone trousers are a flattering, slimline shape and would look perfect with a white silk blouse and nude heels. Plus this is such a classic look that you could recycle this season after season.
A worthwhile investment piece and top of my wishlist this Spring!
Day Birger et Mikkelsen Day Rio crushed silk and crochet waistcoat, £150 (via net-a-porter)
This neutral vest would look great with a little white tank slipped underneath and well-fitted demin.
Elizabeth and James Brigette silk mini dress, £345 (via net-a-porter)
And finally, this little dress would be great for cocktails in the summer sun. Show off those tanned pins in this ‘60s number, and team it up with some gold for a killer look – an oversized gold necklace and cuff should do the trick.
