Black Lace

This season black lace has made a come back, but this time in demure form.
Gone are the days that black lace is associated with tacky clothing or sexy underwear – nowadays it is more likely to be seen on a supermodel or celebrity (or anyone who knows their fashion) in a demure, stylish dress.
The way to rock this trend is to keep it simple and to keep it covered – the dress should cover a lot of skin.
Follow in the footsteps of celebrities (and style icons) such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Biel and Kylie Minogue, and don a demure lace dress this winter.
Daisy Lowe in a black lace Elie Saab Fall 2010 dress, that she wore to the British Fashion awards 2010 at the beginning of the month
Sarah Jessica Parker in a black lace Elie Saab dress at the Sex and the City 2 after-party in New York
Jessica Biel in a black lace number from Oscar de la Renta’s Resort 2011 collection, at the Glamour Reel Moments in late October in LA
Kylie Minogue in black lace by Emanuel Ungaro (it is from Giles Deacon’s debut collection with the fashion house), at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in LA in late October
Carey Mulligan in black lace Elie Saab at the New York premiere of ‘Never Let Me Go’ this winter
Elie Saab is right on trend with a number of black lace dresses, for any occasion, but if you can’t afford those price tags, then look below for my selection of the best on the market.
My mum asked me to find her a stylish black lace dress, with the specification that it has have long sleeves, so below I found these choices for her.
Day Birger et Mikkelsen Day Lace dress, £160 (sale item)
I adore this black lace dress from DAY Birger et Mikkelsen.
This black shift is simple in design and a flattering shape for any age.
This winter, wear yours with some black tights, some killer black heels and an embellished belt around the waist, to add a little detail to the dress and to break up the lace.
Tibi lace dress, £390
For a more fitted style, try this Tibi lace number.
For an event this season, all you need to do is slip on some sandals and grab a clutch, and you are ready to go.
Joseph Georgia lace dress, £552
This Joseph dress is another gorgeous dress (and similar to the Tibi one, just a little more fitted).
This winter, try adding a more edgy look to the trend – team the dress with a leather waterfall jacket and ankle boots for a unique take on the trend.
Happy shopping and I hope you like the choices Mum!!
